Hand-built | One of a kind | Wabi-sabi inspired
Crafted slowly by hand from dark stoneware clay, this sculptural bowl embraces imperfection as part of its quiet beauty. The bark-like exterior texture is carved intuitively, while the interior reveals expressive white slip brushwork and subtle cracks—intentionally left visible to honor the natural tension and transformation of the clay.
Slightly warped and not perfectly circular, the form reflects the hand-building process and a wabi-sabi sensibility that values irregularity, asymmetry, and the poetry of process. Unlike wheel-thrown pottery, this vessel is shaped through direct, tactile engagement—each indentation and curve a trace of the maker’s hand.
Its substantial weight (approx. 2 lbs) and size (approx. 9” W x 4” H) give it presence whether displayed as a contemplative object or used in daily rituals. It is both functional and deeply sculptural—an object to live with, hold, and revisit.
